The TTartisan 27mm F2.8 lens is an auto focus lens available in Fujifilm X-mount, SONY E-mount and Nikon Z-mount. This review will be for the Fujifilm X mount tested on Fujifilm X-T3. It offers a moderate wide-angle field of view equivalent to 41mm on a full-frame camera, making it suitable for a variety of photography genres especially street photography.

What’s in the box?

Optically, the TTartisan 27mm F2.8 lens performs quite well considering its affordable price point. It features 6-element, 5-group design with a multi-layer coating to reduce flare and ghosting. The lens produces sharp images in the center, especially when stopped down slightly, while the corners may exhibit some softness at wider apertures. Distortion and chromatic aberration are well-controlled, and the lens generally delivers pleasing colors and contrast.

One of the standout features of this lens is its compact size and lightweight design. It weighs only around 100 grams, making it highly portable and a great option for photographers who value a small and unobtrusive setup. Don't get me wrong that light and low cost means low built quality, actually it’s far from it. Its fully metal built with a metal lens hood, lens caps (front and rear) are the only plastic things. Another thing to note is that the rear lens cap acts as a USB-C dock for firmware upgrades so we have to ensure we dont lose it.

Fujifilm has a native lens with same focal length and aperture and it’s even weather sealed. Its an excellent lens and performs better than this one but is it worth the additional cost $399 Vs $150 in my opinion NO but it depends on the individual use case(I am not professional so no mission-critical uses). If you need a detailed comparison of the two please read the excellent article by Richard Wong on https://dpture.com/(link below).

The only issue I faced was that sometimes it freezes the camera requiring removing the battery to restart the camera and the worst case experience was that on one such occasion it reset the camera leading me to reconfigure the camera from scratch. I recommend saving your settings with the new Fuji Xapp so that you can restore the settings.

The TTartisan 27mm F2.8 Fujifilm lens offers good optical performance, solid build quality, and a compact form factor at an affordable price. My only complaint about the lens is Vignetting which does not fully go away even after stooping down but it does not bother my shooting.
